Spring Gardens
The Corporation owns one community for the elderly and disabled in Jefferson
County – Spring Gardens. It is a community of 244 units of single-family style
apartments. Each unit has a front and back door and is connected via a covered
walkway to a Community Center. At the Community Center, residents find services
available from a full-time social worker and nurse as well as amenities such as
arts and crafts, meals and a beauty shop. Washer and dryer facilities are also
scattered throughout the property.
As a winner of national design and program awards from the American Institute of
Architects and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials,
Spring Gardens not only provides affordable housing for qualified citizens, but
also provides a level of services and amenities that approaches assisted living.
